Sigma 28-70mm F/2.8 DG DN Contemporary L-Mount

The Sigma 16-28mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary is a standout wide-angle zoom for Sony E-mount shooters, delivering impressive optical performance at a price that undercuts the competition significantly. Sharpness is excellent across the frame even wide open, chromatic aberration is well-controlled, and the quiet STM autofocus system makes it equally capable for stills and video. At around 450g, it is compact and well-balanced for its class, and the build quality feels premium without being unnecessarily heavy. The 28mm maximum focal length may give some pause compared to 35mm alternatives, but for landscape, architecture, and travel photographers who can work within that range, this lens offers extraordinary value and optical quality that rivals lenses costing twice as much.

This was a purchase made alongside a Sony A7III, as I was looking for a lens that could cover a decent range of zoom, but on a slightly tighter budget than usual.

Good Points: Good for vlogging and wide angle shots.

For a standard lens, the Sigma 28-70mm F/2.8 DG DN is such a surprise. The lens is built solidly and provides a good balance for hybrid shooters. Personally, I use mine for my video production business and I love how smooth the zoom and focus are.

Good Points: Excellent price/quality. Smooth to work and lightweight. Buy it for my leica Sl2s. I cannot compare with similar lenses. However I bought this lens to simplify my work in some situations. Because I prefer to use prime lenses.
