I use this Intel I210-T1 network card in a homemade router (OpenWRT) with SQM, and frankly, I have no complaints. It is extremely stable, even under load, with no packet loss or strange behaviour. Intel drivers are robust and well supported, whether on Linux or BSD, which is clearly a big plus for this type of use. I would definitely recommend it for a homemade SQM router.

This NIC works well and does exactly what it's supposed to.

This network card has proved to be both 'fast' and reliable over a number of weeks. I will update this review if I experience any problems with the card.

After recently upgrading to 1Gbps fiber and upgrading a lot of my network hardware to take full advantage of its speeds (an EdgeRouter ER-4, with a Ubiquity Unifi 8-60W switch) I discovered that I was still severely limited and after some trial and error troubleshooting I figured the problem might be an integrated NIC. Despite its 1Gbps rating, I was seeing massive CPU spikes, even with hardware offloading enabled on my router and I was getting download speeds of only about 120-130 Mbps, with upload speeds of about 550 Mpbs and severe bufferbloat. This dedicated NIC fixed all of those problems. My unloaded/loaded latency dropped from 5/230 MS to 1/17MS, and I now get a full gigabit down and upload speeds usually hover around 900 Mbps. Also no more CPU spikes. This card (or one similar to it) will be going in all of my future PC builds. Couldn't be happier so far.
