This is a great sharpener, particularly for Global knives. Brings back a keen edge with a minimum of effort. A very good complement to the set of Global knives.

Second one I've had, bit rough on fine quality knives and will not get them razor sharp, suggest keeping it for your cheaper knives (Global etc...) No magic here for fine Japanese folded steel.

AWESOME! We have a Chef's Choice electric sharpener for our standard edge knives but were looking for something to sharpen our asian 15 degree Global knives. I had considered the Chef's Choice electric version but it was expensive and I wasn't convinced about it from reading reviews. We ended up going with this manual pull through one and it's AMAZING--it works so easily, so quickly (not many strokes are needed) and no electricity or skill required to really use it. It sharpens our Global knives to the point they can easily slice through paper. Highly recommend to any novice (I'm not a chef but love a really sharp knife).

Very efficient whether you sharpen a chef, a boning knife or a penknife.
