Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5M2E + Lumix G Vario 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH Power OIS

The GH5 II adds a fewer feature enhancements to one of the strongest stills/video cameras on the market. Autofocus is improved but is still a weak point for 24p video capture, taking the gloss of what's otherwise a superlative video camera. Excellent image stabilization and a broad range of video support tools still make it one of the strongest options for 4K shooting under $3000.

The mirrorless Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5 II puts video features first, with more robust 4K recording than its predecessor and other sensible upgrades.

Good Points: Viewfinder is brilliantly clear in all lighting. Bought this for wedding videos, but equally good for wedding photography. I have the gh5 mk1, but I love this mk2, quality of video & photos is superb.

The Panasonic GH5 II is excellent for studio video work. It delivers good overall video quality in 4k and has fantastic internal recording capability, with the ability to record 10-bit 4:2:0 4k footage at up to 60 fps. It also offers a ton of different video recording formats and file sizes. Its menu system is well laid out, and the camera has a full set of inputs and outputs to connect an auxiliary microphone, headphones, or an external HDMI recorder. Its autofocus system is only satisfactory, and its low-light performance is a bit worse due to its smaller sensor.

The GH5 felt like a revolutionary product, but GH5 II is a more incremental update. Panasonic has left the bulk of the camera virtually untouched; only the addition of wireless live streaming feels like a significant upgrade. That being said, the new model is just as impressive a video camera as the original, and the few quality-of-life tweaks and minor performance bumps make it another really strong choice, particularly for content creators and vloggers in need of a first “serious” camera.
