Pricey for what it is but it does expand the functionality of the camera, offering extended dynamic range. I've seen people complain about the activation process but it's pretty straightforward. Just don't throw the serial number away as you'll need it if the camera is repaired/replaced.

Essential for improving the colour grading ability. Slightly expensive for what it is. I'd have just preferred a download method but had to wait for a authorisation code to be posted out instead. Crazy in today's modern world.

Gorilla Pod is hugely versatile and intuitive, especially for outdoor macro shooting. GH5 VLog code opens up the full dynamic range of the camera for shooting video, but Panasonic should have it auto activated as part of the camera purchase. Wex is a really good company, all physical goods were promptly sent to my local store for pickup at affordable prices.

I'm excited about what V-Log adds to the GH5. After experimenting with shooting and editing V-Log footage for the last week, I can see right away that it adds a fair amount of flexibility to the color grading. If you are new to grading log profile, be aware that it requires some extra care. While it might help you capture the most dynamic range, it is easy to incorrectly expose for V-Log on the GH5. Shadows of underexposed footage can become very noisy when introducing contrast in editing. I'm sure log (or even raw) footage from high-end cinema cameras has a lot more to offer. But this is a great way to learn more about color and take your GH5 footage to another level. I probably would have gotten this sooner had Panasonic made it more convenient. Delivering the code on a physical piece of cardboard in a box seems really inefficient and oddball for this day and age.

I love this, but it should just come with the GH5 and future cameras. Just build it into the cost. Feels stupid to pay for it. Feels even more dumb that you can't purchase it instantly: You have to wait for a little envelope to be shipped to your door that contains a little passcode that you use the internet to unlock. DUMB! You can buy software licenses online instantly. Give me my V-Log now! Don't deprive me of my instant gratification!
