Kettle worked ok for a few years then started to leak at the base of the plastic fill indicator. Kept wondering where all the water was coming from at the base after unit had shut off then saw the leaking occurring at the end of the heating cycle.

One of the reasons why these products are made of stainless steel is to avoid plastic. But manufucturers seem to be obssesed with plastic. I was very annoyed to find little plastic components in the interior part of this kettle, apparently, to create access for the water level indicator. I could see the water level from the top opening. Disappoibted.

I bought one of these when the 120 Volt model was available. I am unreasonably distressed I can't replace what I have been using daily for eight years with even a similar electric kettle. Braun no longer makes a model which will work in the US. I can't for the life of me understand why not. This kettle is tough, boils water very quickly, looks very good on the counter and is easy to clean. It is very well made. After all the use I have got from it, it has started to leak and I must replace it soon. Perhaps I should just go to using a stove top stainless kettle and be done with all the moaning! If anyone from Braun reads this, and knows of 120v inventory tucked away somewhere, contact me. I will pay extra. OK? Good.

This is sold in the USA but it is a European voltage product. It is 220 volt with a European plug. Unusable in the USA.
