This adapter works great, but it's the only (expensive) XLR solution that works with the Rode Lav, so what other option do you have?

Works fine with the Rode Lavalier mic. The Micon connectors are very small and delicate, so I'd suggest not disconnecting/reconnecting them any more often than absolutely necessary. Bring able to swap cables in case one goes bad is a great benefit. Minor gripe: There is not enough space in the otherwise nice and sturdy lavalier mic case to store the system with the MiCon-5 attached.
