When I found a great deal on a sleeper external drive (CalDigit 3.1 Gen 2) with above average (Price wise) performance that also has Tbolt 3 capabilities for Macs, I sprung for the recommended cable. Dont Skimp! Of course one does need a Mac (Unix) to get that performance. The cable is very well made. Dont expect 40Gb/ from this configuration. Closer to 10Gb/ is doable. I see around 7 - 8. Thats enough for me.
