L’Etymotic ER4SR est reconnu pour sa restitution sonore neutre et précise, très appréciée des audiophiles et professionnels. Son isolation passive est parmi les meilleures, idéale en environnement bruyant. La résolution et le niveau de détail sont excellents, et la cohérence du son est parfaite grâce au driver BA unique. Le niveau de basses est faible, ce qui le rend moins adapté à ceux qui recherchent une forte présence des graves. L’insertion profonde peut être inconfortable, et la scène sonore est assez petite et étroite. Le câble est souvent jugé rigide et microphonique. Ces points sont à considérer si vous cherchez un in-ear de référence.

The extended response version (for those who aren't quite brave enough to hear a flat frequency response...) is incredible and has become my daily driver. If I had to point out a negative, the cable noise when the tips are deep inside your brain is noticeable but it is worth it.

The Etymotic ER•4SR is a worthy successor of the legendary ER•4S with a most widely similar sound signature with just minor tweaks on the sound side and a better cable as well as a better ear tip material.

I bought mine more than 15 years ago from B&H and they are still going strong. Super-small, super-lightweight, terrific and accurate sound quality. Anyone who finds the sound lacking is not putting them far enough into their ears. Reach around the back of your head with your other hand to pull back on your ear while you insert the Etymotic deep into your ear canal, then do the same on the other side. Then TURN DOWN the volume you're used to until you can comfortably hear all the nuances of the music while noticing that fans, computers, talking, traffic and other background noises have virtually disappeared. These IEMs are truly amazing if you're wearing them properly!

Firstly, I'm no audiophile or music expert, and would never claim to have specialist knowledge of headphones. I'm always a bit blinded by the science, and find the output/impedance/figures/driver information rather confusing.
