works every time. The last 2 computers I built the cases came without a carriage. I knew this before I ordered them. I decided to go with a external dvd drive. This one works like a charm. Well built. Plastic case. Very thin but that does not limit from performance. I would recomend this to another.

I've used this specific model drive for 10 Wendt WAC Grinders. These are replacements to the 4200/5400 rpm PATA drives and they work like a charm. I would highly recommend these for those involved supporting Industrial machinery. Since it doesn't have moving parts, I don't have to worry about vibrations affecting performance with these drives. Boot speed and program loading is faster for this PC controller. I'm not going for read/write performance on these drives, but rather reliability for these machines. I used the heads/cylinders/sectors information printed on the back, and it was ready to go. Very happy.

Works so far as a replacement drive for an audio recorder, a Alesis MASTERLINK ML-9600. Been running it for one month so far with few problems.

Great replacement for an old IDE drive. Much quicker especially at boot up.
