An engrossing mix of classic role-playing and modern design that further cements 3DS as the go-to RPG platform.

This is my first atlus game and I love it. It's a very grindy, repetitive, hardcore time waster with little story. But the core gameplay mechanics, musical score, monsters etc are so good that it doesn't matter. It counters the modern quick to finish, very linear story-oriented rpgs such as fire emblem and deserves a place in anybody's rpg collection who has the time for it (it is very likely to take over your life with the necessary grinding). The retroness & map drawing feature also makes it very original & novel. I paid £8.99 for it in the eshop, at which price I give it 5/5. I would have been happy with it had I paid full price though, thus the 4/5 rating due to the grindyness (and also while the in-game quality is high, I *hate* the font choice & think the menus are very unpolished).

Great game. A bit too long and grindy, but otherwise nothing to complain about. The art and music are nice, and the gameplay is really fun. I haven't played much of the other Etrian Odyssey games so I can't say how it compares.

This game is awesome (!!!), but if you aren't the grindy type, don't get it.

Draw a map 10/10 would go dungeon hopping. Scary Foes. Great tunes in the soundtrack. Kawaii sprites. Prepare for an immersive experience!
