As games, each has its faults and glitches that can't be glossed over today, but this package as a whole is a gripping adventure that takes players all over the Milky Way galaxy, meeting fascinating characters and alien races, of whom many will stick long in the memory. The lore will always be the absolute reason for anyone to give this a try, and it's highly likely that no matter the issues, the story and crew will be more than enough to keep you going to see this grand adventure right to the end. Unfortunately, one too many complaints are difficult to ignore and hold it back from being the remaster this deserved to be.

The Mass Effect trilogy’s classic status is well deserved and while these remasters can’t iron out every problem, this is still a hugely entertaining and forward-thinking trio of action role-players.

For all the flaws and poorly-aged features in this trilogy of sci-fi adventures, the quality of its storytelling and characters always shone through. To change that is risky with a series as beloved as Mass Effect and while some fixes and touch-ups are welcome boosts, others spoil the established aesthetic somewhat. Bringing the adventures of Commander Shepard together in a polished up package is certainly a welcome reminder of what makes this a special series and even when the changes to it cramp its style, that same old ability to shine through it comes through once more.
