My Frogger: Toy Trials

I thought this would be similar to the old Frogger game and while it has it's sort of similarities, it is different enough to cause an old lady problems. That and I haven't played many games in the last several years all make it a game that's fairly difficult for me. My 6 year old grandson could probably whip through the game in no time! This game is for any age who loves just having fun. No violence.

It's been a while since I've played this game, but I do remember loving it. The graphics were very well done, I enjoyed the story line, and the mini games were okay, although sometimes a bit annoying. There is quite a bit of content and plenty of secrets to keep an eye out for. This title was way too unnoticed, and more people definitely should have the chance to enjoy it as much as I did.

Now, I'm the kind of guy who can accept almost any kind of storyline for something, as long as it's set up well. This game doesn't really bring anything new to the table in terms of plot or characterzation, but the game gives you a clear idea of what's going on with the characters, which is an acceptable trade-off for being able to see each plot point from kilometres away. As you might expect, the gameplay is pretty standard 3D-grid-style Frogger; if you've played Helmet Chaos, you've played this. But the simplistic, cutesy art style hides a secret: the game gets very difficult, very quickly. Some of the more egregious examples are mini-games that require you to blow into the microphone. Kudos for using all the functions of the DS, Konami, but there's a limit! Near the end, even the regular stages require near-twitch-like reflexes! So, if you're thinking this might be a good choice for a younger relative, you may want to think again.

Great game for the DS. Not like the original Frogger at all. Way better! It's a challenging puzzle game for all ages.

Frogger for the now generation... it leaves alot to be desired. The mini games are nice diversions but are wicked hard as the difficulty ramps up rather quickly. The main portion of the game has awkward control issues and is too stretched out by the silly storyline. In a game like this, you really just want to get to the game part instead of reading endless dialogue between the characters. For kids, its light on violence, has decent graphics and once in the swing of things, has its moments of amusement. There are many worse titles on the market, but also many that are far better.
