Please bring back Sopwith Camel Set

This is a set that needs to be re-issued. History is becoming a popular academic with students in school. Please consider doing this and other historic sets....Spitfire, Mustang, etc. Lego is missing the HISTORY category within it's product lines.

Lovely model with some innacuracy

This is a wonderful set for many reasons. The build is varied and enjoyable, the play functions work well, and the final product is a very attractive display piece, and solid enough to reenact some very complex maneuvers using one hand. In terms of accuracy, there is lots of good and some bad. The paint scheme reflects some of the early British efforts at camouflage, opting for dark green rather than brown (yielding a much more handsome model, in my opinion). The cylinders spin with the prop, replicating the action of the original rotary engine. The wires and struts are both functional and accurate in their placing. A few minor gripes: one of the most distinctive features of the camel from the front is the pronounced dihedral of the lower wing. This was neglected in the model, which has a straight lower wing. In addition, the camel's wing tips had a very distinctive shape which was faithfully recreated in the older model, but for some reason was smoothed out in this one.

Excellent model

I am a fan of the sets based off of real life objects, such as this and the Tower bridge. I have to say this model has an excellent design. I really like the color scheme, and the functionality of the flaps and the propeller. I bought this purely as a display set, and I don't plan on playing with it, but it does seem sturdy enough to be played with. I wish LEGO would make more planes so that I could add them to my collection.

A Fascinating Model

I have always enjoyed WWI style biplanes and early 20th century vehicles, but sadly didn't get the chance to see the original model Sopwith Camel from a near decade ago. This model though is indeed one of the funnest ones I've built. The attention to detail is extraordinary and is almost identical to a life-size model. The amount of things I'd change on it are little to none, and believe it's one of the best LEGO sets in my collection. The only thing I ask of LEGO as a whole is to extend this line of combat biplanes or simply antique vehicles. As they know, a vast number of their clients aren't just children, but adults as well. More vehicles like the Red Baron's Fokker Dr. 1, the First Car, a Willy's Jeep, WWII planes, etc would boost sales more than they already are and would attract the attention of other possible customers as well. Otherwise, I loved this set, and think that many collectors, model builders, history lovers, and LEGO fans will love this set. Happy Building!

Detailed, detailed

Very nice detail with some challenging parts of the build. Great color and stickers are worth the effort as they give the plane a very authentic look.
