very nice to build. a bit surprised of the size, bigger than I thought. Dissapointed that there were 6 tiles missing and finding it difficult to get replacements.

As a huge fan of the Star Wars 16+ lego line, and Star Wars in general, this set was a lot of fun to assemble. I do think the wings are much larger in scale then the pod, making the model a little off in aesthetic, (Pod should have been larger in relation to the wings) but overall, it is a well designed model. I would love to see a similarly sized and scaled set for Darth Vader's original U-wing Tie Fighter from Episode IV to make up the collection of Hoth Snowspeeder, X-wing Fighter, Slave 1, and Y-wing Starfighter to round out the best, and most iconic starfighters of the first 3 Original episodes. JMHO

PROS: This is a vehicle that is hard to recreate in LEGO...it is round and bricks have edges. They did a fantastic job pulling off the look of the ship and making it both structurally sound and very swooshable. UCS sets don't usually get both properties. The build looks great and has some clever build uses. Ended up being a lot more fun than I thought it would be. CONS: Stickers...UCS sets shouldn't have stickers for the price we pay for them. Price per part this also ends up on the high side...especially for a set with so many tiny parts. $.12 per part seems too high. Lastly, the mini figure pilot while both detailed and exclusive is just out of place for a UCS set not in scale with said figure. Again this feels like a way to reel in figure collectors but just detracts from the model display.

Pros: -great display piece, looks surprisingly smooth -sturdy build, easy to hold by center and move around -pretty cool technique for fastening the arms to the wings -I wasn't particularly excited for the minifigure before I got the set, but it actually has some really nice detail on it Cons: -relatively short build due to lower piece count / large plates (probably took closer to 2.5 hours, but I built it over a few sessions) -build is a bit repetitive due to the symmetry of the ship -the interior detail is pretty hard to display (but still looks very nice!) Overall, a great UCS model of an iconic Star Wars ship, would recommend!

So i just picked this up on sale at amazon and it is amazing. i cleaned out a spot for it but i didnt make enough room. this tie fighter is awesome. it looks great and the technique used to attach the wings is very interesting. it is kind of sad that u cant see all the details on the inside easily just like the batman tumbler. if u are a star wars fan u need this set.
