The SmartLav mic works perfectly on the iPhone Xs. However, you need this adapter when youre using the mic with non smartphones. I use this adapter with my DJI Osmo Pocket and it works GREAT!

When I bought this adapter it worked great, looked great, it was exactly what I needed. A week after this adapter arrived it broke... I used it twice with gentle use... There is no apparent visual damage, sound just goes in and doesn't come out. I blame the cable, it is thinner than a piece of string, there is no way this product will ever last more than a year. I would have easily given this adapter a 5 star review if it worked more than a few days.

Connected my Rode Lav mic to an external recorder and it worked fine. No connection or vibration noise even filming action sequences.

The device is pretty simple and allows me to attach my Rode mic to my phone, laptop, computer, and camera with no issues. Still ticked that I have to purchase yet another adapter I can lose because the industry can't get it's head around a single standard.
