This is a great lens for wild life photography. When the sun is out, it performs well. I have an R6 mkii so high ISO is not a problem.

The great thing about it is it is easy to carry around, light weight, and get great pictures of wild life from this lens, draw back is f11 makes you fight for light .

Canon thought out the box with the 600,800 f11 lenses and decided to bring fun into photography for the masses. I don’t need 600mm but on the R7 it’s great actually. Moon photography I hardly use the 400mm f5.6 now. The weight and fun factor shouldn’t be overlooked with this 600 lens. Choose wisely between it and the 800 and they will allow you to go out and shoot subjects you might not have before (wildlife, aviation in my case). Again, no case or lens hood and are expensive additions. Framing won’t be a problem once you use it for a while

This combination is very light and can be handheld even for flying birds and with the IBIS and lens stabilisation it is an excellent lens in good light. Compact when closed, carrying is easy but it is a pity it isn't weather-proof and I do worry about the longevity of the"push-pull" set-up. It does have a "plasticy feel but this is expected with the price tag. It works well with the R7 and gives a 960mm equivalent with the Aps-c sensor while still being reasonably quick to focus.

Despite the narrow aperture, I've been impressed by the quality of shots that can be achieved with my R6. Lightweight to carry and fun to use.
