Canon RF 800 mm f/11 IS STM

I bought thos lens with a view to taking longer range wildlife pictures, with a 600mm it was always at maximum focal length so an additional 200mm wouldn't go a miss . It is very light and can be fitted with the Extender RF2 giving additional distance advantage. It only has one focal length but that isn't a problem baring in mind it's intended use.

I bought this lens a few weeks ago and have now had time to test it out on a few occasions. I have been thoroughly impressed so far with the lens. I use it with the canon r10 and the image quality has been excellent. I bought the lens mainly for wildlife photography and the results have been brilliant. Even with it being f11 the quality has been excellent with brilliant detail. I have also used it for landscape shots, taking some pics of the Bass rock of the coast of North Berwick. The Bass Rock is 3.5 miles out at sea and the lens got some stunning shots zooming closely in on the lighthouse and captured it really crisp and clear. Looking forward to getting out with this lens more and seeing what I can capture with it.

Needed more reach than the EF 100-400mm II. As the UK doesn't have constant light, all my 2000 photos were blurred and not sharp being an f11 lens, I got a refund. I don't recommend it for anybody in the UK.

I have now used this RF 800 mm F11 lens on R camera quite a few times. I find it delivers sharp images in right conditions. For best sharpness in lower light tripod is recommended. Exposure times of 1/80s are ok with the very effective image stabiliser function. I have obtained nice images of moon (using tripod) and distant birds and animals. No issues with any optical aberrations. These are handled also by the in-camera processing, I understand. The lens has fixed aperture F11 and has no aperture blades. So the background blur is natural and smooth. F11 does require bright light conditions for shorter exposure times and for handheld images. The lens is is quite long, when operated (44 cm with a hood attached), but can be shortened for placing in rucksack. It is relatively lightweight. This is certainly a good value alternative to the heavy and costly wide aperture L-lenses.

This is a brilliant lens you can see things close up far in the distance in crystal clear photos the quality is good it's very light for such a big lens the auto focus is very good on it it was very good value at a reduced price that I paid for it overall a great lens for buildings and birds and wildlife and people
