Excellent lens for travel photography. Just came back from France and it was my main lens. It performed beautifully with crisp, detailed high quality images. Small and light, a perfect travel lens.

Excellent walk around lens. I use it on my Z50 II for my outdoor walk around. Lens is sharp at all focal lengths. Also great for video.

Landscape and nature videos on the crop sensor Nikon Z30. Same look as the Nikon 12-28 DX and 24mm f/1.7. VR gives stable footage when the wind is blowing through the tripod legs.

If you're an amateur photographers this could be the only lens you'll ever need. The zoom range works for almost any subject, you'd only really need something longer for wildlife and aircraft, but for those I'd recommend a dedicated super zoom (e.g. the 180-600mm). Faster lenses are nice, and in some conditions can produce technically better images, but they're inevitably heavier and more expensive. Given the excellent low light/high ISO performance of Nikon sensors, combined with vibration control, you can get away with a slightly slower lens. On balance I think Nikon got the balance just right with this one. If you want you want one lens you can keep on your camera 90% of the time then this is a great option.
