Pentax Objectif reflex HD FA 77mm f/1,8 ED Limited Noir

When I first opened this up and took it out of the box I was immediately transported back to the '60's or' 70's. The build quality and attention to detail are that impressive.This was like the classic equipment from the film day's of photography. Couldnt wait to try it on my K-1 Mk-II and was/am not disappointed.Rich warm colors.Great depth of field.Superb images! I lucked out and got it on sale from B & H. It is already my favorite len's. Now have two of the Limited trio and will wait for the 31 mm to go on sale.....

This lens is an all time classic. Few glasses have the legacy and the charisma of this little guy. The legendary 3D effect, color rendition, sharpness starting from a few stops from wide open and rendition for full/half size portraits at max aperture is real. Its an all metal built, and design is a classic. Small size fits Pentax cameras greatly, but it wont look bad on those little mirrorless like Sony or Nikon Z. A great purchase, at a great price.

I wished that I had purchased this lens years ago but unfortunately I wasn't aware of its existence. I don't know when or how I first heard of it, but once I started to research this lens I became intrigued. Hardly anyone had anything negative to say about it and now I know why. This little lens is a jewel in the crown of Pentax lenses! A little soft wide open but otherwise pin sharp across the rest of its range. Superb color rendition and bokeh! Sharp right to the edge of the frame. This is a fun lens to shoot with and it hasn't been off the K1 since I received it. I feel its enhanced my creativity and makes me want to get out and take photographs. The build quality is just what you'd expect from Pentax, this lens is solid, and for its size a hefty little piece of glass that does exactly what you want. Its not weather sealed but y'know thats okay. Its expensive, but y'know thats okay too. This is a classic lens that just takes great photos and I'm happy that I finally purchased it..!!

Paired with a Pentax K-1 and definitely meet my expectations. I am self taught and do not claim any expertise. A hobbiest at best that enjoys outdoors and taking photosm. Bought in the winter so I was limited on photography subjects. I had to teach myself how to shoot in manual however the camera is very good to help dial in settings for the light conditions. Photos are hand held however I expect a tripod will greatly improve results. I am hoping for some night photography this summer. Focusing speed and accuracy is good for how I'm using the lens. Occasionally hunts when I'm pushing the limits on close up shots however the lens is not designed for artistic purposes lol The river scene is handheld and a 100% crop was made to illustrate how well the lens and camera work together. The two other images are also handheld with the K1. Post processing was with Photoshop Creative Cloud, NIK, and Photoshop Elements.

Did I mention that this lens is sharp? It's sharp. Tack sharp. I got this lens a number of years ago to use on my K-5, K-3. Images were great, and the focal length was good on the crop sensor body. Combined with the K-01 (the mirrorless brick), image are even better. Put on on the full frame K-1, and you'll start to understand what "pixie dust" is. Based on the f-stop used and the focal distance to the subject, the bokeh is really interesting. And the image quality produced by this lens is amazing. Definitely at the top of my recommendation list. If you're thinking about it, then buy it. You'll never regret owning this lens.
