Good Value

Overall impression very good, good build quality and good value for money. Image quality excellent. The only letdown is the manual focus system with focus difficult to achieve, esp. in low light it's a hit and miss situation as the distance scale on the focus ring just doesn't match the distances. I used the live view system on my Canon 60D to assist in achieving focus for Astro/night pics. Also I had to adjust the focus ring position (three screws beneath the shroud) to actually reach focus, not good on a new lens - a QA issue.

This lens came recommended by a friend for astro/star photography. My particular lens did come calibrated with infinity accurately marked; others haven't had as good of luck (test it during the day before you go, and mark where the "true" infinity is on your lens). For the price, you sure can't beat it!

I absolutely love this lens. It’s probably the sharpest lens I’ve ever owned for my Sony A7ii. Highly recommended the only reason I gave it 4 stars not 5 is because the manual focus and manual aperture are a pain in certain situations where quickness matters. It doesn’t have any metal contacts to control the aperture through the camera dials like some manual focus lenses do, but I think it makes up for it and then some by it’s picture quality. Some lens distortion on the edges and some vignetting but is easily fixed in Lightroom or photoshop with a lens correct. 14 mm is a GREAT focal length for dramatic scenes of tight spaces

Samyang 14mm f/2.8 for Canon EF is a Great lens

Bought this for wide field astrophotography using my Canon T5i unmodded. A little apprehensive after reading some not-so-good reviews from some self proclaimed experts. But I thought I'd give it a try because of the low cost. Great lens. pin point stars across the field and 1-2 min subs turned out just fine. I'm very pleased with this lens.

It is what you pay for.

The lens fairs well for the price youre paying. Its a bit soft at 2.8 but gets slightly better at 4 f stop. Definitely not for daytime photography. Astrophotography is youll notice a slight coma. Im not sure if the lens I got was defected or not but thats what I was getting. Its mounted on a 7D Mark II. If youre shooting the Milky Way, youll have to do multiple shot for stacking later. Photos get slight distortion which is expected and it can be fixed with photoshop. Honestly, I think I have gotten better and sharper images with my kit lens than this one but again you do get what you paid for. Do not get discouraged, it is a starter lens not a high end lens. If you have the money, youd be better off with one of the Sigma ART lenses or the 16-35 f/2.8L III.
