Sigma 35 mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary Sony E-mount

I bought this lens hoping to buy a sharp compact and fast prime for my A1 After the first shots I thought something was as wrong with the autofocus The lens is simply not sharper st any aperture than my 28-60mm zoom nor of course of the 25-70 GM2 two lenses that I own and even compared to the tamron 35-150 and 20-40 this is not better What to say? Maybe sigma sends special lenses to reviewers and selles bad copies to customers? Had a similar experience with the 30mm for mft theoretically sharper than other but practically not at naked eye without resolution charts

Make no mistake, this is a beautiful lens that has a really strong performance. Unusually, the logic applied to the design of the optics seems to have fallen slightly less comfortably when we look at some of the minor, niggling, more general design issues. I would ditch the magnetic lens cap, put in a depth of field scale, add a lock on the aperture A setting and put in a switch to de-click the aperture ring. Then equalise the filter size across the I range and we have one brilliant lens in every respect. It's very close to ideal anyway and with its all-metal construction and very fine optical performance (albeit with in-camera corrections switched on if necessary), I don't have any hesitation in giving the Sigma 35mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary the accolade of Highly Recommended.

The Sigma 35mm F2 DG DN is a great medium-wideangle prime lens for all types of photographers. While it has some fringing and a bit of distortion, it largely makes up for those with pleasingly smooth out-of-focus areas as well as excellent handling and build quality.
