Celestron Powerseeker 127 Eq Telescope Argenté

I never even opened it. I thought I was getting a great telescope, due to online reviews, but I did some research after my purchase and it turns out this telescope actully sucks pretty badly for many reasons- all of which are well known to the astronomy crowd. There are even websites dedicated to talking people out of buying it. I ended up buying a Dobsonian. No fault of Kohls and the return was very easy.

This is a terrible telescope. I seriously wouldn't buy it even at a yard sale. The tripod is too weak for the size of the scope, so it wiggles and moves when you try to focus on whatever object you're trying to view. The cables for the knobs to move the scope left/right and up/down did not work. The eyepieces are terrible, and you honestly can not get 450x on a tube this size and expect to get a clear view. It's just not possible. Also, lenses are plastic, not glass. The counterweight is not placed correctly, so the scope tends to roll around from side to side and never really balances properly. This telescope is not recommended. Celestron does make some decent telescopes in this price range, but this isn't one of them.

Surprisingly powerful and easy to use for the price I paid

Although I bought it for a cheaper price, I had to return it as I couldn't use it for once. It's heavy. The tripod is unstable. The mirror was not parabolic. A beginner will end up putting it in storage permanently. Not recommended for beginners.

DO NOT BUY THIS TELESCOPE, AS THERE ARE BETTER ONES OUT THERE This telescope isn't that strong, as you cannot see bright nebulas and galaies(for example, M31 and M42). I wouldn't recommend this to anyone due to the price you're paying for it, which in my opinion, isn't fair. If you're looking for better telescopes on a budget, look for tabletop dobsonians, which is what I have now(a heritage 150p). Even though you can see planets with this, that's pretty much all you're getting with this telescope. ONCE AGAIN: PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS
