Panasonic SC-HC412EG-S

Reasonable sound for size but lacks warmth. Played extensively with sound settings but couldn't quite achieve a quality of audio that I was hoping for, but happy enough in the end. Customisable presets for sound so easy to change when swapping between sources. Happy with clarity at very low (bedside) volumes - no hum. Bought primarily as a bedside unit with a small footprint. Very happy with the remote, easy to access sleep setting (no navigating through menus). Would benefit massively from a proper screen especially to navigate USB input rather than an antiquated scrolling 8 segment type display. It is easier to change the music on the USB stick than to fill the stick and try to navigate it. Good DAB+, good CD, not linked to BT yet. Overall I would recommend if you want a small footprint or to be able to wall mount a flexible and functional unit that delivers fairly good sound quality but be aware of its limitations

The sound is good but was disappointed that after trying to add favourites i could not use the controls on the unit but have to rely on the remote control, i would have liked both options. This was not explained in the manual. If i had not tried to add favourites i could have carried on using both.

One major gripe: unlike the old Panasonic hi-fi it replaced, this unit doesn't remember the track when you pause a CD - it just turns off after a few minutes and you then have to figure out where you were. It doesn't even show the track you're on when playing, without hitting a special button on the remote. Definite backward step!

I think this is one of the best looking stereo systems on the market, however I was disappointed with the remote as it doesn't suit this stereo at all! It is bulky and so old fashioned. Panasonic, please give your customers a choice to buy another remote.
