This product is not stand-alone. You have to connect it to a computer for it to work. I bought it to replace a device from the same brand that had been working for me for 7 years. That device was stand-alone, so I could scan documents without connecting it to my computer and load them in the evening when I got back to the office. This one doesn't do that.
