Trendnet TEG-S80g 8-Port Gigabit GREENnet Switch /w metal case

I bought 4 switches, 3 8-port and 1 5-port because I was originally very pleased with the energy consumption and reliability. I bought my first 8-port in 2012 and my last 3 switches in 2013. As of this writing (2019) all 4 are dead or unrwliable. The ones that do power on only work for about a minute before dying. Now for paying ~$20 per switch in 2012 and 2013 I think I've gotten good use out of them, 7 and 6 years. Not bad. I would buy them again except... Their limited lifetime warranty only covers models manufactured after 2015. For the comparable price I may as well switch back to linksys and netgear. Going back to 2010, those are still going strong.

I purchased this for a home office. It worked fine for a few years, but then crapped out. The item comes with blatant marketing that it has a LIFETIME warranty. Don't believe it. If you ask for support after 3 years. They tell you, it is "OUT OF WARRANTY". I do not understand how they can advertise this as LIFETIME WARRANTY, and then be so blatant that it is NOT LIFETIME!

I’m a network engineer and work in Datacenters with very expensive switches. I love this little switch and have them all over my house (telco closet, office, server rack, rooms). My three major requirements for this switch was: 1. Small form factor with desktop or wall mount 2. Gigabit speeds 3. Energy efficient with no major heat radiating from it. This switch met all of my requirements and I’m using them throughout my property, where I need additional CAT5E or CAT6 ports for smart devises like TV’s and cameras. # 3 above was a huge requirement for me because of the heat my older equipment is generating and I’m trying to cut down my overall power draw and cooling cost. Living in California where electricity is very expensive makes you think about these things. Love it and it’s been a year since my first purchase.

I am encountering this same issue for many Amazon tech products. The reviews are clearly NOT for the product listed. As example, this item is the 8 port Trendnet gigabit switch, which is neither a router nor has wifi. But, if you read the reviews - AND MANY NEGATIVE - much of the commentary is about routers, not a switch. So, either Amazon is lumping all Trendnet reviews across multiple dis-similar products, or there is some other problem going on. As to the actual Trendnet gigabit switch, I have both the 6 port and 8 port units and they work flawlessly. Amazon, get your act together!!!!
