Gitzo GT2542 + GHF3W Mountaineer kit

After spending months and months of searching, reading and owning a few tripods, i finally found i have always wanted. I do not want to mention some of the other brand names that i owned and dumped on this review as i find no point in doing so. Gitzo tripods are solid, stable, long lasting, professional and easy to travel with. I was debating whether i should get the travel line or mountain line. I finally decided to go with Mountaineer series 2 as i find it solid, stable for heavy cameras (Nikon D850 with 24-70mm lens and filters) for long exposures. The only downside is the high price tag but over a long period of time it actually pays off. I hope this review is helpful.

I am very happy with it. Very steady even with all legs fully extended. When retracted, it will fit into cary on luggage. You will need to remove the center column if you have the head on it. This is Series 2 which is much heavier duty than the Series 1, but you will pay much higher price as well.

This is a very handsome tripod, living up completely to reviews by other users. It is extremely sturdy and yet light enough to still be easily carried long distances. This is now my fourth iteration on a tripod and it is light-years better in overall quality and versatility. It is nice to finally have one that will actually rest completely on the ground, when such is needed for macrophotography, as well as one with a hook on the central pole if and when additional weight needs to be used for stabilization in heavy winds. A really outstanding tripod, well worth the cost.
