OK, not great

I bough this to replace a carbon fibre Jobu monopod which could be inconvenient to travel with as it did not collapse as short as this Sirui. I dont mind the slight weight penalty of the aluminum model but it is hard to get this monopod to be really rigid - there is some slop in the joints. It seems the tubes could be made to tighter tolerances and that might prevent the issue. I plan to return this and have not yet decided if I will try the carbon version.

A simple, well built monopod.

I have not used this much but, so far, it seems like a very well built monopod. It is also compact and light. I am sure that a carbon fiber monopod would be lighter but probably not enough to matter.

Nicely made

I was wanting a monopod that would fit in a suitcase for a trip to Europe. I had bought a Sirui tabletop tripod with ball head about a year ago that I have been well-pleased with, so I decided to go with the Sirui P-306 monopod, too. It's well-made and compact--just what I want. It reaches higher than my 5'9" with the Magnus ball head that I also bought for it. Even though the top plate is wide, the ball head fits well and allows for full movement. This monopod is everything that I wanted.

exactly what I needed

Very lightweight and easy to set up, good for documentary production. No fancy features.
