Nikon EN-EL20a

B&H is the only place I could find to buy this battery!

Same as issued battery that came with camera. Could last a bit longer, but it takes a lot of juice to power this camera with its extra bright viewfinder and view screen.

Having a third battery available on my all day photo excursions is an added comfort so I know I still have power at the end of the day.

My Nikon Coolpix P1000 came with one battery, the EN-EL20a. I wanted a spare. Only B&H stocks them. I rejected the EN-EL20 because it doesnt offer as much current (battery life before needing a charge). I dont trust off-brand batteries, even though they are cheaper. The Usual Suspects (BestBuy, Amazon, OfficeDepot, etc.) only stock cheaper off-brand batteries and chargers. The Nikon website said the EN-EL20a is on back-order. B&H had the real Nikon EN-EL20a in stock, so I happily made another purchase from B&H, at retail. Fast service, over-the-top advice, and they stock brand-name supplies and accessories.

Wish Nikon would get competitive with there accessories, great capacity.
