Reviewing the original formulation, bought from Guerlain. First off - pink juice is not alluring to me, personally. It's not the colour I would've picked. Nothing about this says "pink" to me. That's all the bad news. The good news is - the bottle is a terrific, modern take on the original Shalimar bottle - they even included the blue cap. And a tassel! I mean, tassels are an obvious Guerlain thing, but I think it adds a neat little piece of jewellery. Anyway - the scent is also great. Opening with a a beautiful iris and what to me smells like a nitro musk. From there, it never smells overtly floral, or even remotely panel tested. No ugly berry notes, no harsh synthetics, and lost importantly, not that sweet. A modern take on an old idea that works beautifully. Sadly discontinued, it is now part of the classics collection, in the Mitsouko-style bottle, and it lost its Shalimar naming scheme. I've yet to test, hoping things are similar.

I have worn a combination of 3 Guerlain perfumes and toilettes for many years. I have been stopped by both men and women with compliments, several times by flight attendants, often in restaurants, and recently by a young man in a liquor store who turned around and walked back to say he just loved the scent of my perfume. That is a real compliment to a 78-year-old woman❣️ I don’t divulge the combination, but some have guessed at least one of the 3.

It is an abomination to call this limp, chemical baby lotion smelling "eau" any sort of variation of Shalimar. Do yourself a favor and order a decant of the pure Shalimar vintage perfume. By cheapening everything to sell to the masses, LVMH has ruined Guerlain in particular and the luxury perfume market in general. The IFRA has finished it off with their draconian restrictions on natural ingredients.

Not overly impressed with Shalimar. When I first sprayed it on, I tried running away from myself because of the scent. Luckily, once it dried down it was tolerable. It was a bit too light and powdery for my taste though. Will not buy it again.

Guerlain Shalimar partum initial l'eau smells amazing. It is the perfect size for your purse. No cap on vile but it is a sprayer non the less. The scent just warms your heart. So soft and suttle and musky. Beautiful scent
