TP-LINK Deco X50 Lot de 4

We installed this in our 200sqm two story holiday home and it works perfectly with strong signal levels all round the house. Reasonable easy to install.

I've been running these in a two storey house linked via ethernet with no issues for the past 3 years. I can go anywhere in the place and get a strong wifi signal. It's easily handling 1000mbps download speeds and the app is decent. Haven't tried the parental controls yet but they're there. QoS works like any other router.

I bought it to upgrade my mesh network using 5 x M4R units using the Ethernet backhaul, with around 50+ Wi-Fi clients, mostly IOT devices. Cons. It constantly hits 100% utilisation and then drops connectivity with some of the IOT clients. I removed 2 of the M4R nodes and that helped to shave the peak but it still not ideal. It does run a lot hotter than the M4R units. You lose a lot of the functionality in Access point mode. The web interface using a browser is extreme buggy and keeps on disconnecting. Pros Wi-Fi 6 / 5Ghz speeds are awesome. I can max my 500mb/s fibre line using my iPhone. The 2.4ghz range is significantly better than the older M4R devices, so I might be able to replace the M4R’s with fewer X50’s. Adding the X50 into my existing Wi-Fi mesh network and promoting it to the Master was a breeze. Monitoring via Home Assistant is easy peasy.
